  • The Crofters Rights 117-119 Stokes Croft Bristol, England, BS1 3RW United Kingdom (map)

Three years ago Wizzarding Promotions was spawned out of wanting to give something back to the Bristol live music scene Ogre had come to know and love...

Let's celebrate three years on with a FREE show featuring some cosmic favourites, featuring:

Kungens Män [Stockholm, SWE]
https://kungensman.bandcamp.com

The good folks at Riot Season Records provide!

Kungens Män started out in 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden. Always new sounds and improvisations, different guest musicians, different happenings. Kungens Män are rooted in the psychedelic/drone rock tradition of bands such as Träd, Gräs & Stenar, but also add influences from krautrock, shoegaze, noiserock and free jazz.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Stereocilia [Bristol, UK]
https://www.stereociliamusic.com

Local Drone Rock Records texture artist John Scott weaves layers of magick for the patient and careful.

Over the past 10 years John has performed all over the UK and Europe with various projects. He has also presented work for live radio broadcasts, and soundtracks to short films. He has twice performed in Rhys Chatham's guitar Orchestras. In 2012 at the Biennial festival in Liverpool cathedral performing ‘A Crimson Grail’, and more recently in San Francisco performing ‘A Secret Rose’ – Both for 100 guitars.

“The Silence That Follows caught my eye a few weeks ago, on one of my usual scrolls through the ambient tag. From my first listen, it quickly rose to become one of my favorite releases of the month, excelling especially in the clarity of its higher frequencies. A large portion of the album is constructed around a continual interplay between guitar loops and synthesized pads, but Stereocilia isn’t afraid to journey outside of this formula; the interesting drum patterns in “Syzygy” before the introduction of the distorted guitar is a unique moment of reflection before the utter power of the track is revealed. Towards the end of the album come less abrasive tracks, including the epic “Celestial Light,” which takes up half of the album’s runtime. This is a walk through a variety of electronic timbres, and the guitar which dominates the latter half is probably my favorite element on the entire album.” - Bandcamp.

Evil Owl [Bristol, UK]

Not to be confused with the independent progressive rock band from Finland, the UK Evil Owl are hard, retro and grubby. On their self-titled EP from 2018, this Bristolian trio take the garage rock base of Brockley Forest and load it with the kind of distortion and arty noise that fuelled the Sonic Youth classics ‘Sister’ and ‘Evol’ and throw in a few influences from Mudhoney and Tad for good measure. The result is a genuine blast of guitar driven anger – four songs with a retro heart but also loaded with a timeless, fuzzy appeal.
